Who we are

What we collect, and why

When you send an enquiry. Our contact form asks for your name, phone number, and the location and details of the job. You can also give us a company name and an email address. We use this only to answer your enquiry, quote for the work and carry it out. The form also records which page of the site you sent it from, so we know which services people are asking about.

When you call, WhatsApp or email us. We keep the contact details and the details of the job so we can deal with it and keep a record of work carried out.

When you browse the site. Our host records standard server information such as your IP address and browser type. If you accept analytics cookies, we also collect anonymous statistics about which pages are visited — see below.

Cookies and analytics

Nothing that is not strictly necessary is set until you agree to it. When you first visit you will be asked whether to allow analytics cookies, and nothing beyond the essentials runs unless you choose “Accept”. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

If you accept, we use:

• Google Analytics 4 — anonymous statistics on pages visited and how people found us, so we can see what is useful and what is not.
• Google Ads conversion measurement — if you arrived from one of our adverts, this tells us that an advert led to an enquiry. It tells us the advert worked; it does not tell us who you are.

Both are provided by Google, which may process this data outside the UK under the safeguards set out in Google’s privacy policy.

Who else sees your information

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. We use a small number of suppliers to run the business:

• Vercel — hosts this website and keeps standard server logs.
• Resend — delivers enquiry form submissions to our inbox.
• Google — analytics and advertising measurement, as above.

We may also pass information to a supplier or subcontractor where it is needed to carry out your job, and we will disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept for up to two years, so we can pick up the thread if you come back to us. Where we have carried out work, we keep the job record, certificates and invoices for at least six years — electrical certification has to be traceable, and tax law requires it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we have no continuing reason to keep it, and object to how we are using it. Email info@williamselectricalkent.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
