Extra Sockets & Circuits across Kent

Most homes are short of sockets, and the usual fix — an extension lead behind the sofa, or a spur added onto whatever was nearest — is exactly what turns up as a C2 on an EICR later. We add sockets and circuits across Kent the right way: assessed against what the existing circuit can carry, run on a dedicated circuit where it needs one, then tested and certified.

What's included

  • Additional sockets in rooms, kitchens, lofts and home offices
  • Dedicated circuits for ovens, hobs, showers and other high-load appliances
  • Garage, shed, garden office and outbuilding supplies in armoured cable
  • Outdoor weatherproof sockets and garden power
  • USB and smart sockets fitted on a properly rated circuit
  • Testing and certification for every addition, notified where required

How it works

01

Assess the existing circuit

We check what's already on it before adding, rather than assuming it will take more.

02

Decide spur or new circuit

High loads and outbuildings get their own circuit — we'll explain which yours needs.

03

Install neatly

Cable routed and terminated properly, with making-good kept to a minimum.

04

Test and certify

The addition is tested and you get a certificate for the work.

Called Gary at 4am he was at my house for 5am and stopped the leak from doing any further damage and arranged for the repair to be carried out by a plumber. Had him back a few weeks later to find the problem with a socket in my garage that kept tripping. He rewired it all for me and now it works perfect.

I phoned him on a Saturday morning. He said could he pop round later and give us a quote. He checked everything and said the job was quite straightforward. The price was very reasonable and Gary said he could fit them there and then. Gary is very knowledgeable, he explained everything and carried out the work cleanly and efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Gary.

I had a problem with my lights, I had no lights in the house at all. Gary came over to the house and got all the electricity sorted for us in under an hour, so I have no problem recommending him and his company for any electrical issues. He was clean and tidy, good value, friendly and fast.

Gary has completed work for me a number of times, including fitting a new kitchen light, repairing a broken plug socket, fitting Hive, fitting alarm/security system and changing light switches to dimmer switches. He always completes work to a high standard.

Extra Sockets & Circuits — common questions

Can you just add a socket onto an existing one?

Sometimes, but not always, and that's the important bit. A spur is only acceptable if the existing circuit can carry the extra load and isn't already spurred. We test before we add — fitting a spur onto an overloaded ring is how you end up with a C2 on your next EICR.

Do I need a separate circuit for a garden office or shed?

Almost always, yes. An outbuilding wants its own circuit run in armoured cable at the correct depth, with proper isolation and earthing arrangements at both ends, and often its own small consumer unit. Running an extension lead down the garden isn't a substitute and won't be compliant.

Does adding sockets need Building Control notification?

It depends on the work. Adding a socket to an existing circuit generally doesn't, but new circuits — and any work in a bathroom — do. As NAPIT registered competent persons we self-certify under Part P and notify Building Control ourselves, so it's handled without you doing anything.

Can you fit a dedicated circuit for an electric shower or oven?

Yes. High-load appliances need their own correctly sized and protected circuit run back to the board, and often the board needs a spare way or an upgrade first. We check the supply and board capacity at the same visit and tell you if anything else is needed before the appliance goes in.
